City of Hoopeston Planning Commission met Feb. 10.
Here is the minutes provided by the commission:
I. Committee Chair Jim Richards called the Organizational meeting to order at 4:20 pm.
II. Present at the meeting were Chair Jim Richards, Commissioners Shawn Swartzentruber, Charlene Ervin, Kellie Ferrell, Nicole Trueblood, and Cody Moore via electronic format, Mayor Bill Crusinberry, and Secretary Dawn Layden. Absent Commissioner Bill Boose.
III. Mayor Crusinberry presented two properties that have requested a Public Hearing with the Planning Commission. This meeting was to go over the information for the two requests in order to give the Commission time to understand what will be presented and think of questions they would like answered at the Public Hearing.
The first property discussed is known as W.P. Pierce’s 7th Addition Lots 13,14, and 15. The owner of the property will be requesting to rezone Lot 15 from Two Family Residence (R-2) to Commercial (B-1). Mayor explained Lot 15 has a large shed on the property that has been operating as a business since approximately 1952, but has not been rezoned as commercial. Before the new property owners can sell Lot 15, they must have it zoned commercial in order for a buyer to use it as a business.
There was discussion regarding the old Downtown Motel located at 200 E Main St. A new owner has purchased the property and is putting a lot of time and money into the structure for renovations. The owner will be requesting an encroachment on City easement on the East side of Bank St. The owner would like to erect a structure that will enclose the walkway and doorways of the motel rooms on that side for safety reasons. There will still be approximately 6 feet between the building and the road for a walkway.
The meeting adjourned at 5:10 PM
