Village of Pesotum Board of Trustees met Nov. 4

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

1. Call to Order

Village President, Joyce Ragle, called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

2. Pledge of Allegiance and Roll Call

Present were the following: President, Joyce Ragle; Village Trustees, DeeAnn Hoffman, Dianne Reed, Jennifer Paeth and Nathan Nierenhausen. Also present was Maintenance Director, Rob Wood, Village Building Inspector, Lyle Reed, and ESDA Coordinator, Rob Russian. Absent were Village Trustees, Stephanie Hackett and Tricia Johnson-Burton; Village Clerk, Chris Conner; and Village Treasurer, Melanie Schultz.

Due to the absence of the Village Clerk, a Motion to Appoint Elizabeth Megli as Clerk, Pro Tem, was made by DeeAnn Hoffman. Second by Dianne Reed. Motion carries.

3. Presentations/Comments from the General Public

Jon Roney, a resident of Hannah’s Acres Subdivision, advised the Board of ongoing concerns regarding drainage within Hannah’s Acres Subdivision. Attorney Megli advised as to the Village Board’s position on responsibility for the drainage tile serving Hannah’s Acres, and Hannah’s Acres Too, Subdivisions.

4. Routine Matters

4.1. Approval of Consent Items

Motion to approve consent items, made by Dianne Reed. Second by Nathan Nierenhausen. Motion passes.

4.2 Payment of Bills Received After Preparation of Treasurer’s Report Motion to approve the following monthly bills, received after preparation of Treasurer’s Report:

Premier Cooperative $186.34

IAWC $30.71

Mitchell Plumbing $315.00

Village Credit Card $588.07

Terminix $30.00

Tuscola Home Center $58.92

Motion by DeeAnn Hoffman. Second by Dianne Reed. Motion carries. 

5. Reports

5.1. Village Clerk, Chris Conner – No report.

5.2. Village Maintenance, Rob Wood

Traffic signs installed to reduce speed near areas where children are typically present. Lights installed near concession stand and park. The grill, at the park, was repaired. A warning sign and camera installed at the park.

Rob Wood also confirmed that the Frontier Pole was repaired. Additionally, the evaluation of light poles, at the baseball filed, was completed. Awaiting estimates for red-tagged poles.

Rob Wood confirmed his intention to remove the speed-bumps.

5.3. Village Building Inspector, Lyle Reed – No report.

5.4. ESDA Coordinator, Rob Russian – Siren update was provided. Additionally, Rob Russian agreed to cancel the previously-utilized pager system from American Messaging.

6. Old Business – None.

7. New Business

7.1 Motion to approve payment to Illiana Construction, in the sum of $16,296.15, to be paid from the MFT Fund. Motion by Dianne Reed. Second by Jennifer Paeth. Motion carries.

8. Presentations/Comments from the Board

Nathan Nierenhausen inquired regarding pick-up of yard waste and storm debris. A discussion occurred regarding options for responding to this community need. No determination made at this time.

10.1 Next Village Board Meeting, Wednesday, December 2, 2020, at 6:30 P.M.
