City of Hoopeston City Council met Nov. 27.

Pledge of Allegiance
I. Mayor Crusinberry called the council meeting to order.
II. Roll Call: Four council members were present: Florek, Goodwine, McElhaney and Wise were present, Ankenbrand and Lawson were absent.
III. Approval of Agenda: Goodwine moved to approve the agenda seconded by Florek. Agenda was approved 4-0.
IV. Approval of Minutes: Goodwine moved to approve minutes of the prior meeting seconded by McElhaney. Minutes were approved 4-0.
V. Payment of Bills: Florek moved to approve payment of bills seconded by Wise. Bills were approved for payment by roll call vote 5-0 with the Mayor casting a vote.

VIII. Report of Officers:
Florek made the motion to approve payment to Cross Construction for work on the Rt. One
project. Goodwine seconded the motion. Roll call vote was taken and the motion was approved 5-0
with the Mayor casting a vote.
Discussions are ongoing with the owner of the Downtown Motel and the water department on getting water service to the motel. Ongoing renovations at the motel are progressing.
Goodwine made the motion to approve the Tax Levy stating that everything except the Police Pension is frozen at last year’s numbers. Also, the city’s unemployment insurance rate has dropped while the liability insurance has gone up resulting in adjustments of the two numbers. The total levy amount is $862,385. Wise seconded the motion. Roll call vote was taken and Ordinance 2021-3 was passed 5-0 with the mayor casting a vote.
Wise had nothing to report.
McElhaney had nothing to report but stated that both Downtown Motel buildings have new roofs.

XII. Mayors Comments and Updates
BZZZ’s Bar owner Brian Swinford has court tomorrow November 18. Attorney Wessner has requested that the Mayor, Police Chief and Fire Chief attend the trial.
The letters sent to the Suiter heirs have been returned, one undeliverable and one refused. The mayor will meet with the attorney regarding the situation.
A citation for a dangerous building has been sent to the owner of the Countryside Mall building. An
architect has toured the building and will send the mayor a copy of his report and estimate.
A father and son have purchased the Pizza Hut Building and are renovating it. The business will be the Pizza Palace. The mayor will meet with them to determine if they need anything from the city.
The Downtown Motel owner has replaced the roofs on both buildings. The mayor toured the building and was impressed with the workmanship. Renovation is moving along.
