City of Hoopeston Finance Committee met Sept. 28.
Here is the minutes provided by the committee:
In attendance from the Finance Committee were Bill Goodwine, Lourdine Florek. Committee member Jeff Wise attended later. Also in attendance were Mayor Crusinberry and Dawn Layden.
Paint City Hall
After brief individual inspections it was decided to paint the light poles and guard rail on the west side. Lights will be installed in the dark coves around city hall at an estimated cost of less than $3,000. Two doors on the west side of the building will be replaced.
Old Business
Donohue invoices: Goodwine presented the invoices paid to Donohue which, to him seemed very high in total. To Mayor Crusinberry and Alderman Wise the bills seemed reasonable for the work done.
House on Maple Street: A dilapidated house on East Maple is on the County Trustee bid list. According to Mayor Crusinberry it has been offered at tax sales but no one has bid. With no bids the house automatically goes to the Trustees for auction. Mayor Crusinberry will ask the
Trustees to remove it from the bid list until the full Council decides what to do.
Swimming Pool: Alderwoman Florek brought the condition of the swimming pool to the Committee's attention. Several high cost repairs are needed before it can re-open. The Council will have to decide in the near future whether to re-open the pool or permanently close it.
The meeting was adjourned at 4:22 p.m.
