A southwest Champaign subdivision that was previously sidelined by the 2008 recession is preparing to begin construction this summer near The Liberty on the Lakes subdivision and Carle Champaign on Curtis medical facility.
The News-Gazette reports the Applewood Valley development by Hallbeck Homes will consist of nine apartment buildings and commercial lots for mainly office and retail sites. It will be pedestrian-friendly as large sidewalks will be located throughout the development.
“We are currently platting the commercial lots along Curtis and Mattis on the perimeter and a multi-family piece in the center of the land,” Dan Hallbeck said.
Champaign City widened Mattis Avenue south of Curtis Road in anticipation of the development back in 2007.
The commercial lots are being advertised by Coldwell Banker Commerical Devonshire Realty.
“Applewood Valley offers a wide range of opportunity that can be individually tailored to meet each client’s needs,” the CBCDR listing states.
