July-Dec. 2019 Recap: Parolees in Urbana convicted of homicide

There were two offenders convicted of homicide released on parole in Urbana during the second half of 2019, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Chambana Sun.

The data shows that both of the released offenders in Urbana were men. The younger parolee was a 28-year-old man sentenced in 2014. The other was a 60-year-old man sentenced in 1983.

The offender who was incarcerated the longest was Douglas S. Dees. He was convicted of homicide in 1983 when he was 23 years old. He is now 60.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The table below shows the 50 cities in Illinois with the most paroled offenders during the second half of 2019 who were convicted of homicide.
