Rantoul City School District 137 issued the following announcement on Dec. 13.
The timing of the weather system in the mornings is particularly troublesome. This makes the decision about schools being open or closed very difficult. Please be prepared for all possibilities:
Schools are open
Schools are delayed by 2 hrs
Schools are closed
Everyone is pretty familiar with school closings. What we are not familiar with is a 2-hr delay. If we have a 2 hr delay, here are the things you need to know:
K-5th grade starts at 9:40am
Eater Jr High starts at 10:05am
No PreK program in attendance – no AM or PM PreK
Students bused to programs in Champaign would have a 2 hour delay from normal pick up time
School dismisses at regular time
The safety of our students is most important. We understand the decisions of school closings or delays affect families in a variety of ways. Automated phone calls are sent when the decision is made so please make sure your phone number in Skyward is correct. Also, please watch WCIA, Rantoul City Schools Facebook and www.rcs137.org for details of school closure or delay in the morning.
