The data shows that 30 men and five women were released in Champaign. The median age of the parolees was 37. The youngest parolee is a 20-year-old man sentenced for crimes against a person in 2016, and the oldest is a 65-year-old man sentenced for crimes involving drugs in 2017.
The offender who had been incarcerated the longest is Valerie D. Simpson. She was convicted of crimes involving alcohol in 2008 when she was 42 years old. She is now 53.
Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
