Former state school employee Kearney Grobler paid in $128K to teachers' pension fund, could collect $3.16M in retirement

Former state school employee Kathy Kearney Grobler, who retired in May 2016, saved $127,843 toward a pension over 40 years working for public schools, Teachers' Retirement System of the State of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Kearney Grobler would collect as much as $3.16 million, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes Chambana Sun.

The projection assumes Kearney Grobler received $66,463 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 2 years of retirement, Kearney Grobler will have already received $134,920 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the teachers' pension fund.
