Former state university employee Rogers paid in $56K to pension fund, could collect $904K in retirement

Former state university employee Phyllis Rogers, who retired in July 2017, saved $55,911 toward a pension over 10 years working for state universities, State Universities Retirement System of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Rogers would collect as much as $904,262, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes Chambana Sun.

The projection assumes Rogers received $19,006 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 3 years of retirement, Rogers will have already received $58,745 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the state pension fund.
