Former state university employee Huff paid in $143K to pension fund, could collect $3.2M in retirement

Former state university employee Bryan Huff, who retired in May 2017, saved $142,966 toward a pension over 36 years working for state universities, State Universities Retirement System of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Huff would collect as much as $3.2 million, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes Chambana Sun.

The projection assumes Huff received $67,273 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 3 years of retirement, Huff will have already received $207,934 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the state pension fund.
