Former state university employee Dlott paid in $320K to pension fund, could collect $8.77M in retirement

Former state university employee Dana Dlott, who retired in January 2017, saved $319,614 toward a pension over 36 years working for state universities, State Universities Retirement System of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Dlott would collect as much as $8.77 million, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes Chambana Sun.

The projection assumes Dlott received $184,248 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 2 years of retirement, Dlott will have already received $374,023 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the state pension fund.
