Administrators in Heritage Community Unit School District 8 earn an average of $105,715 per year, ranking 299th out of 864 districts in the state, according to a Chambana Sun analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card.

The 2018 average is 18% higher than in 2014 and 20.4% higher than in 2009. District administrators make 1.5% less than the state average of $107,279.

Administrator salaries depend on the district's size, location and resources, as well as the individual's level of experience and education, according to the Illinois State Board of Education report.

The Champaign County school district enrolled 481 students in 2017-18. There is an average of 241 students for every administrator, compared to a statewide ratio of 181 to 1.
