Report: Gifford spent $9,531 per student in 2017-18

Spending per pupil at Gifford Community Consolidated School District 188 is up 17.1 percent from five years ago, according to a Chambana Sun analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2017-18 report card shows the Champaign County school district spent $8,137 per pupil in 2013-14. It spent $9,531 in 2017-18.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 215 to 202.

Gifford's spending in 2017-18 was 28.5 percent lower than the state average of $13,337.
