Retired Paxton-Buckley-Loda 10 employee Kathleen Dowling saved $25,392 toward her pension over 20 years working for public schools, Illinois Teachers' Retirement Fund (TRS) records show.
Over 35 years of retirement, Dowling would collect as much as $607,000, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes Chambana Sun.
Dowling, 60, who currently lives in Paxton, earned $39,664 in her final year at Paxton-Buckley-Loda 10.
The projection assumes Dowling will receive 23.7 percent of that total - $9,414 - in her first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.
After three years of retirement, Dowling will have already received $29,098 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of her contributions to the state teachers' pension fund.
According to the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), 42.4 percent of Paxton-Buckley-Loda 10 students met or exceeded the standards for the "PARCC" exams. ISBE reported that 40 percent of district's graduates were deemed "college ready" last year.
