Sangamon Valley Fire Protection District responded to seven calls in 2017 - 68.2 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Sangamon Valley included seven fires - five structure fires and two other fires.

In all, the department saw $40,000 in fire loss - or about $5,714 per fire.

The calls resulted in one civilian fire-related death.

The Sangamon Valley Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $149,500 in 2017.
