Cost of college went up for all students at Danville Area Community College

In-state tuition and fees rose 3.7 percent for 2017-18 at Danville Area Community College, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

Illinois residents paid $7,775 to attend the two-year public institution this year $275 more than the $7,500 charged for 2016-17.

Non-resident students would have paid the same amount as residents this year, or $7,775. Non-resident tuition and fees grew 3.7 percent from $7,500 in 2016-17.

About 87 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Illinois residents.

Data shows 84 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 175 students received grants or scholarships totaling $898,624 and 35 students took out student loans totaling more than $124,813.

Including all undergraduates, 1,268 students used grants or scholarships totaling $5.39 million. Another 214 took out $715,899 in federal student loans.
