Report: Gifford spent $8,832 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Gifford Community Consolidated School District 188 is up 10 percent from five years ago, according to a Chambana Sun analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Champaign County school district spent $8,007 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $8,832 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 218 to 201.

Gifford's spending in 2016-17 was 32 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
