Report: Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley spent $10,414 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley Community Unified School District 5 is up 2 percent from five years ago, according to a Chambana Sun analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Ford County school district spent $10,254 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $10,414 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 1060 to 996.

Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley's spending in 2016-17 was 20 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
