Illinois taxpayers need Dan Caulkins in Springfield much more than he needs to be there is the theme of a new Liberty Principles PAC ad on YouTube touting the Decatur Republican's candidacy in the 101st House District.
“Dan Caulkins has made his name synonymous with service,” the narrator says of Caulkins, who served more than two decades in the military and is now vying for the seat being vacated by Rep. Bill Mitchell (R-Forsyth) on a platform of fiscal accountability and greater government accountability.
“I’m supporting Dan because of his service to our country,” one voter says in the ad.
Dan Caulkins
Caulkins, who has vowed not to take a salary or health care benefits if he is elected, formerly served as a Decatur city councilman. He said he decided to reinsert himself in politics after state legislators enacted a $36.1 billion spending plan last summer he says was woefully short on reforms, yet it carries a 32 percent income tax hike.
“Dan isn’t looking for a job; he’s looking to do a job for us,” says another supporter in the ad. Followed by another who beams “he’s going to Springfield as a citizen statesman.”
The 70-year-old Caulkins is also championed in the ad as his “own man” and as someone that will bring integrity and transparency to Springfield”
The 101st District includes parts of Macon, Dewitt, Piatt, McLean, and Champaign counties.
