Chicago residents have taken to social media to speculate on whether there's an ulterior motive to Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan's decision to not seek re-election when her term ends in January 2019.
“Prob is stepping down because someone has a big scandal on her that simply hasn’t gone public yet,” Patrick Gong posted on the Chicago Tribune Facebook page.
“Run for U.S. Senate?" Tim Gingras wrote. "Embarrassed about her Step Father? Made enough money, and wants to move out of Illinois? Hates high taxes in Illinois too?"

“Because no one sane would want to be attached to the sinking ship that is Illinois,” Maryann Flasch posted.
“Maybe she got tired of looking the other way at her father’s corrupt dealings,” Matthew McGinley suggested.
Madigan’s father is House Speaker Michael Madigan (D-Chicago).
“Madigan doesn’t know what a balanced budget should look like, unless its bleeding taxpayer blood red,” Dwayne Golden commented.
“Maybe she knows the feds are going start locking up politicians,” Manny Lopez wrote.
“Why doesn’t she stay in government and have a private sector job and play both sides like her old man,” Phil Patti posted.
“Gov. Lisa Madigan,” Janet Claire Burke wrote.
Lisa Madigan has been the attorney general for 14 years.
