Champaign County Lincoln Legacy Committee met July 25.
Here is the minutes as provided by the committee:
Call to Order
Chairman Wysocki called the meeting to order at 5:04 p.m.
Roll Call
Committee members present were Barbara Wysocki, Anke Voss, Ray Cunningham and Kay
Grabow.
Others present: none
Approval of the Agenda
Mr. Cunningham moved, and Ms. Voss seconded, to approve the agenda. The motion carried.
Approval of the minutes
Ms. Voss moved, and Ms. Grabow seconded, to approve the minutes from April 25, 2017. The
motion carried.
Public Participation
There was no public participation
Old Business
General Updates
One Courthouse tour is scheduled for August, a group of eleven adult students. Ms. Wysocki
will arrange and conduct the tour.
Ms. Wysocki is working on preparing a yearly report for the County Board.
Fall History Event
Ms. Voss will check the library schedule and set a date for a Sunday afternoon in October for
the Local and Family History Fair. The fair will be held in the Urbana Free Library Auditorium,
with the library providing tables for displays and refreshments.
The Lincoln Legacy Committee will be a participant, and Ms. Voss and Ms. Wysocki will contact
other entities including the Homer Historical Society, the Champaign County History Museum,
the Rantoul Historical Society, the Museum of the Grand Prairie, the University of Illinois
Archives, and Dan McCollum to invite them to participate.
The participating groups or individuals will be asked to bring handouts, artifacts, and possibly
interactive activities for adults and children. Kent Tucker has offered to bring items from his
collection of Lincoln memorabilia. Suggestions for displays include computers for searching
family information, geneology charts, preservation tips, books for sale, sign-ups for giving oral
histories, and information on dating photographs. Ms. Voss will request hand-outs to give away
from archival companies, and she will make a suitable announcement about the event which
can be shared on social media.
New Business
The Lincoln Legacy Committee has received no new information about the Illinois Bicentennial.
Ms. Wysocki is on the call list for Sen. Scott Bennett if there is news about Bicentennial events.
Ms. Grabow asked if it would be possible for the Courthouse Lincoln Exhibit to be a part of the
Looking for Lincoln Passport project. Ms. Wysocki will contact Circuit Clerk Katie Blakeman to
see if the Courthouse staff would be able to accommodate visitors who wanted to have their
“passports” stamped.
Ms. Wysocki reported on her tour of the Vermilion County Historical Museum. She was very
favorably impressed.
Next Scheduled Meeting
The next meeting of the Lincoln Legacy Committee will be on October 24, 2017. This is one
week earlier than the regularly scheduled date in order to avoid conflict with Halloween
activities.

Mr. Cunningham moved, and Ms. Grabow seconded, to adjourn the meeting. The motion
carried.
