Thomasboro Community Consolidated School District 130 Board met May 16.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

A regular meeting of the Thomasboro Community Consolidated School District #130 was held May 16, 2017, at 6:00 p.m. in room 104 at Thomasboro Grade School. The following people answered to roll call: Jane Sprandel, Tom Henkelman, Derek Wolken, Doug Mennenga, and Karen Morgan. William Wilken and Erin VanHorn were absent. Others present were Bonnie McArthur—Superintendent, Elizabeth Acton—Principal, Katherine Bartell—Recording Clerk of the Board, Samantha Stone—Teacher, and Becky Franklin—Teacher, Sabrina Bean—teacher.

Recognition Of Visitors

Catrina Rudd with her 5th grade daughter, Samaia. Samaia’s brother, Jaden and their grandfather, Mr. Robert Taylor. Also present was our Physical Education teacher Mr. Hess.

Motion to approve the Consent Agenda Items as presented was made by Member Henkelman and seconded by Member Wolken.

Roll call was taken as follows:

Aye: Sprandel, Henkelman, Wolken, and Morgan.

Nay: None. Motion carried.

Oath Of Offce—Karen Morgan

Karen Morgan read the Oath of Office after being voted in as a Board Member after the April 4th election.

Tentative Budget Amendment 2016-2017

Not all categorical funds has been paid to the school at this time

Motion to approve the Tentative Budget Amendment 2016-2017 was made by Member Henkelman and seconded by Member Wolken.

Roll call was taken as follows:

Aye: Sprandel, Henkelman, Wolken, and Morgan.

Nay: None. Motion carried.

Final Calendar 2016-2017 School Year

Motion to approve the Final Calendar for 2016-2017 school year was made by Member Henkelman and seconded by Member Morgan.

Speech Contract—University Of Illinois

Motion to approve the University of Illinois Speech Contract for 2017-2018 as presented was made by Member Henkelman and seconded by Member Morgan.

Voice vote taken. Motion carried.

IASB Dues

Motion to approve the IASB Dues was made by Member Henkelman and seconded by Member Wolken.

Roll call was taken as follows:

Aye: Sprandel, Henkelman, Wolken, and Morgan.

Nay: None. Motion carried.

Title I Plan

Motion to approve the Title I Plan was made by Member Henkelman and seconded by Member Sprandel.

Voice vote taken. Motion carried.

Agreement For Use Of Facilities By Celebration Committee

The Thomasboro Celebration Committee wanted to use the school grounds for a Bouncy House for their town celebration. Mrs. McArthur checked with our insurance company because there have been others who have shown interest in using our grounds for similar events. Our insurance company said we have to be on THEIR insurance. We also have a paper contract for them to sign.

Motion to approve the Agreement for the Use of Facilities was made by Member Henkelman and seconded by Member Wolken.

Voice vote taken. Motion carried.

Excellent Student And Staff Member Of The Month

The excellent student of the month is Samaia Rudd. Samaia was nominated by her 5th grade teacher, Sabrina Bean. The excellent staff member of the month is our physical education teacher Mr. Hess. He was nominated by the first grade teacher, Mrs. Schlosser.

Board Conference Discussion

The Board voted to go every other year to the Board Conference due to the cost involved.

Human Resources Regurlar Items: Retirements, Leaves Of Absence, Resignations, Emloyments, Employment Changes, Resommendations To Hire, Extracurrcular Assignmnts/Changes, Action Upon Reduction I Force Of Certifed And No N-Certified Employees

Motion to accept the resignation of Laura Wright as Social Worker and Barb Conover as night custodian was made by Member Henkelman and seconded by Member Wolken.

Voice vote taken. Motion carried.

Board/Superintendent Comments

Promotion Ceremony is May 18, 2017 at 6:00p.m.

School Board Leadership Mandatory Training in September will be at the ROE in Champaign. All Board Members are required to attend.

The Village of Thomasboro would like to use their equipment and mow the school property before the Promotion Ceremony and the Village Celebration scheduled for the weekend. Member Morgan thought that would be okay even though the property had just been mowed by Mr. McArthur as per his contract. A straw vote was taken and was okayed 3 to 2.
