The Champaign Urbana School Foundation is seeking nominees for its alumni awards.
The foundation will present a Distringuished Alumni Award, a Local Hero Award, and a Local Business Community Impact Award.
The Distinguished Alumni Award honors alumni of Champaign or Urbana schools who have gone on to do exemplary work in the public or private sector. Past winners include film critic Roger Ebert, Olympic speed skater Bonnie Blair, artist John David Mooney, and civil rights advocate Eleanor Conrad Nelson.
The Local Hero Award honors a volunteer who has given exceptional community service while living within their former school district's boundaries.
The Local Business Community Impact Award will go to a Unit 4 or District 116 graduate who has gone on to start a successful business that interacts with and supports the community. Priority will be given to business owners who actively employ high school students.
Nomination forms are available on the CUSF website at cuschoolsfoundation.org/2016-distinguished-alumni-awards. Completed forms can be submitted electronically to info@cuschoolsfoundation.org or by mail to CUSF, P.O. Box 1166, Champaign, Illinois 61824-1166 no later than Dec. 31.
The awards ceremony is scheduled for April 2.
