State Representative Brandun Schweizer of Danville extended his congratulations to the Westville Public Library District following its receipt of a $12,500 library tech grant from the Illinois Secretary of State’s office. The grant is aimed at libraries with a low tax base relative to their served population and considers the technological needs of their communities.

“Congratulations to Westville Public Library District for being awarded one of the library tech grants from the Illinois Secretary of State’s office,” said Rep. Schweizer. “Our libraries are the backbones of our communities, providing services beyond access to books, to all groups of people. With grant opportunities such as this, libraries can get ahead and continue to provide up-to-date technological services to community members that need them most.”

The Illinois Secretary of State has distributed 88 grants this year, totaling over $1 million, designed to support underserved libraries. These funds can be utilized over two years for various technology-related improvements including updating hardware and software, expanding internet resources, purchasing electronic devices and mobile apps, increasing Wi-Fi accessibility, ensuring ADA compliance, and other related upgrades.
