Illinois football schedules UAB as opponent for 2026 season opener

The University of Illinois football team has scheduled a home game against the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) to open its 2026 season. The game is set for September 5, 2026, at Gies Memorial Stadium in Champaign.

With this addition, Illinois completes its nonconference schedule for the 2026 season. The team will also face Duke on September 12 and Southern Illinois on September 19, with all three games taking place at home.

The rest of the team's schedule for the year will be released later. According to previous announcements from the Big Ten Conference, Illinois will host Iowa, Nebraska, Oregon, and Purdue during conference play in 2026. The Fighting Illini are also scheduled to travel for away games against Maryland, Michigan State, Northwestern, Ohio State, and UCLA.
