Congresswoman Mary Miller of Illinois’s 15th district announced her support for the Senate Amendment to H.R. 5371, a measure that officially reopened the federal government after more than 40 days of closure.

“Democrats spent more than 40 days inflicting unnecessary hardship on American families, veterans, and farmers in a desperate attempt to gain leverage for their radical agenda. I voted to reopen the government, put Americans first, and ensure Congress gets back to regular order,” said Congresswoman Miller.

The continuing resolution provides full-year funding for key appropriations bills such as Military Construction–Veterans Affairs and Agriculture, Rural Development, FDA, and Related Agencies. Included in the agriculture bill is $4.5 million in community project funding secured by Miller for the Delbert Mundt Water Treatment Plant Expansion in Shelby County. This investment aims to modernize rural water infrastructure and provide safe water access for communities across Illinois.

Support has also been increased for agricultural research and rural water programs—areas identified by Miller as priorities during this legislative session.

“I was proud to secure these investments for rural Illinois, and I will continue fighting to ensure that our families, farmers, and veterans receive the resources and support they deserve,” Congresswoman Miller added.

Mary Miller has served as U.S. Representative since 2021 after succeeding John Shimkus. In previous elections, she won against Paul Lange in 2022 with over 71% of the vote and Erika Weaver in 2020 with more than 73% of votes cast.
