State Senator Chapin Rose announced on April 7 a state grant of $2,164,842 to support economic development in Crawford County through the purchase of 123 acres intended for a new industrial park. The funding is provided by Illinois’ Regional Site Readiness Program, which aims to help communities prepare land for industrial development and attract new businesses.

The announcement is significant as it seeks to create more job opportunities and stimulate economic growth in the region. The program’s focus on preparing sites is expected to make Crawford County more attractive to companies looking to expand or relocate.

“This investment puts Crawford County in a strong position for future growth,” said Senator Rose. “These are your local taxpayer dollars coming back to strengthen our community and bring more jobs.”

Rose explained that developing an industrial park ensures that there will be ready-to-develop land available when businesses seek expansion or relocation options. “Developing a new industrial park ensures we have development-ready land available when businesses are looking to expand or relocate,” Rose added. “I will continue pushing for investments that create real opportunities for families and workers in our district.”

Rose has served as a Republican member of the Illinois State Senate since 2013, representing the state’s 51st Senate District after replacing previous senator Kyle McCarter, according to available information.

Observers say this investment could have lasting effects on employment rates and business activity in Crawford County as prepared sites often lead directly to increased interest from employers.
