The Don Moyer Boys & Girls Club hosted its first annual Raising Futures Conference at the I Hotel and Conference Center on March 28. The event gathered parents, caregivers, educators, and community partners for a day of presentations focused on supporting children’s healthy development and education.

The conference aimed to strengthen families by providing practical strategies, resources, and insights from speakers representing various fields. Participants explored ways to promote positive outcomes for young people through collaborative learning and shared experiences.

In the afternoon, attendees visited a community resource fair where they could connect with local service providers. Organizations present included the City of Champaign Equity and Engagement Department, YWCA, Y on the Fly, Courage Connection, Birth to Five Illinois, the Salvation Army, Crisis Nursery, among others. The fair offered information about services such as early childhood development programs, family support resources, housing assistance options, and crisis intervention support.

By bringing together diverse groups invested in youth well-being in Champaign, the conference reinforced ongoing efforts to create supportive environments for children and their families. Organizers said that fostering these connections is key to promoting long-term success within the community.
