A&R Services and Illinois American Water announced on Apr. 17 that the closure of Paula Drive between Powers Lane and McKinley Avenue will be extended until Friday, April 24, 2026, weather permitting. The road was originally closed on Monday, April 13 to allow for the installation of a new water main.
The extension of the closure affects through traffic in the area but access will continue to be maintained for all local properties. The companies said this measure is necessary to ensure both safety and timely completion of the infrastructure project.
Local residents are advised to plan alternate routes during this period as only property owners or those with business in the area will have access beyond barricades. The organizations responsible said they appreciate community cooperation while essential upgrades are completed.
This project reflects ongoing efforts by utility providers to improve service reliability and maintain critical infrastructure. Delays due to weather remain possible before full reopening can occur.
