The Neighborhood Services Department’s Neighborhood Relations Division hosted the NRD Resource Exchange on March 18, bringing together members of various Homeowners Association groups from across the city. Viktoria Ford from Friends of Geese spoke at the event, providing information about humane ways to manage the local goose population.

The topic is important for many neighborhoods that experience challenges with geese in public and private spaces. The session aimed to educate community leaders on effective and responsible methods for addressing these concerns.

During the meeting, one participant asked how to encourage geese to move away from their church parking lot. Ford explained the process of safely oiling eggs as a method of population control. She also described how attendees could obtain the necessary permits and outlined the required reporting steps after eggs are removed from nests.

The NRD Resource Exchanges are held monthly and serve as an opportunity for registered group leaders in the city to learn directly from subject matter experts about issues affecting their neighborhoods.

These sessions continue to provide practical guidance for residents seeking solutions to common neighborhood problems.
