Rep. Mary Miller, who represents Illinois’ 15th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on July 26, 2025, addressing topics ranging from energy policy to education and national security.
In her first post on July 26, Miller stated, “President Trump and the Department of Energy delivered a major win for rural America by canceling $4.9 BILLION in taxpayer-funded loans for the Grain Belt Express. This so-called “green energy” project, pushed by Joe Biden and J.B. Pritzker, was an assault on the property rights”. The Grain Belt Express is a proposed high-voltage transmission line intended to carry wind-generated electricity across several states. The project’s cancellation has been supported by some rural landowners who objected to its route through their properties.
Later that day, Miller commented on actions taken by the National Education Association (NEA), posting on July 26: “The NEA erased their 434-page agenda from the internet, but they can’t erase the truth! Becky Pringle’s radical plan to indoctrinate our kids is unacceptable and must be stopped.” Becky Pringle serves as president of the NEA, which is one of the largest labor unions in the United States representing public school teachers and staff.
In a third post on July 26, Miller addressed foreign real estate investment in the United States: “Chinese nationals were the #1 foreign buyers of U.S. homes, buying up $13.7 BILLION worth of residential property. Meanwhile, Americans are being priced out of the market. This is a national security threat that should concern everyone.” Recent data indicates that Chinese investors have been significant participants in U.S. real estate markets over recent years.
Miller has represented Illinois’s 15th District since 2021 after succeeding John Shimkus. Born in Oak Park, Illinois in 1959 and currently residing in Oakland, she holds a BA from Eastern Illinois University.
