Senior Kenta Miyoshi was recognized on Apr. 30 as the Scholar Athlete of the Week for his achievements with the University of Illinois Fighting Illini Men’s Tennis team. Miyoshi, who majors in Strategy, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship, received unanimous All-Big Ten First Team honors for the second consecutive year and has been named to an All-Big Ten team three times.
Miyoshi’s recognition highlights both his athletic performance and academic commitment. He achieved a 6-1 singles record in Big Ten play this season, bringing his career conference singles mark to 22-4 over four years at Illinois. Additionally, he was named an ITA Singles All-American for the second straight season after posting a 13-7 record in dual match play.
Miyoshi also received the Big Ten Medal of Honor during Monday’s Oskees student-athlete celebration. The award is presented annually to one male and one female student-athlete from each Big Ten institution who demonstrates excellence on and off the field. “Senior Kenta Miyoshi was tabbed with unanimous All-Big Ten First Team honors for the second straight year, earning a spot on an All-Big Ten team for the third consecutive season,” according to university officials.
