The Illinois women’s gymnastics team will finish its regular season on March 15 when it travels to Minneapolis for the Minnesota Quad Meet, facing No. 13 Minnesota, No. 20 Iowa, and Northern Illinois at 2 p.m. Central Time.
This meet is significant as it marks the final opportunity for the Fighting Illini to compete before postseason events begin. The team, known as the Fighting Illini within university athletics according to the official website, will look to build on recent performances and prepare for upcoming challenges in the Big Ten Conference.
In their last outing on March 8 at Huff Hall in Champaign, Illinois, Illinois posted a season-high score of 196.175 but was edged out by No. 3 Alabama. Lyden Saltness led with a career-best 9.900 on beam, earning her first event title of the season. The team also achieved season-best scores on beam and floor during that meet. Other notable performances included Alea Bryne’s season-high vault score of 9.825 and Chloe Cho’s bars score of 9.850. Freshman Piper Gow set a personal best with a 9.825 on bars, while Eden King matched her career high with a 9.900 on floor.
Minnesota enters the quad meet after falling to North Carolina but remains ranked No. 13 nationally with a record of nine wins and four losses this season in the Big Ten Conference, as reported by their official athletics site. Arianna Ostrum won her second consecutive all-around title in their most recent competition.
Iowa recently completed an undefeated home season for the first time since 2022 after defeating Central Michigan, SEMO, and Northern Illinois with a score of 196.500 inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena last Friday.
Northern Illinois finished fourth at its latest quad meet hosted by Iowa but set a new team season-high on beam in their final rotation.
