The University of Illinois men’s and women’s track and field teams will host the fourth-annual Gary Wieneke Memorial on May 1-2 at Demirjian Park in Champaign, according to an April 28 announcement. JaiCieonna Gero-Holt and Meagan Humphries led the heptathlon group by finishing first and second respectively, with scores that now rank among the top three nationally this season. Gero-Holt’s total of 5,870 points is now second-highest in school history, while Humphries’ score of 5,847 is fourth-best all-time. Both athletes have secured spots at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. In other field events, Jacob Cookinham recorded a shot put throw that ranks fourth in program history at 19.00 meters, while Jonathan Kapitolnik cleared a high jump mark that places him fifth all-time for Illinois at 2.15 meters.

Mia Morello improved her own second-best pole vault mark with a clearance of 4.50 meters—one of the best national heights this season—while Pol Molins ran one of the fastest ever Illinois times in the men’s 1500m at 3:39.26. Additional notable performances included Kennady Anderson’s seventh-fastest school time in the women’s steeplechase (10:18.80), triple jump marks from Katharina Graman and Romi Tamir ranking them both among school leaders, Reece Ihenacho improving his discus record to ninth-best all-time (55.65m), and Sophia Beckmon running a swift ninth-fastest school time for women’s 100m (11.45).
