Illinois softball concluded its 2026 season with a 7-3 defeat against Indiana on May 3. Taylor Porter hit her first collegiate home run during the game.
The outcome closes the year for the University of Illinois Fighting Illini Women’s Softball team, which competes in intercollegiate softball at the NCAA Division I level and is affiliated with the Big Ten Conference, according to the official website. In Saturday’s game, Aly VanBrandt opened scoring for Indiana with a solo home run. Jose Bird added a three-run homer and Madelyn Strader scored on a wild pitch. Taylor Porter entered as center fielder in the final frame and hit a two-RBI home run—her first collegiate homer—cutting into Indiana’s lead before consecutive outs ended Illinois’ comeback attempt.
