In game one, Iowa scored twice in the first inning and continued to build their lead throughout the game. Kiara Sipe hit a triple that brought in two runs early, while Leah McAnally added a home run for Iowa in the fifth. Illinois managed its only run when Adisyn Caryl singled to score Ava Moore in the sixth inning. The Hawkeyes finished with a final run in the seventh for a 7-1 victory.
Game two remained scoreless until Iowa’s Avery Jackson hit a solo home run in the sixth inning. Sipe then drove in another run with an RBI single, sealing Iowa’s 2-0 win. Karley Yergler pitched both complete games for Illinois, allowing eight earned runs over 14 innings and recording eight strikeouts. Yergler’s record moved to 2-6 on the season.
Eileen Donahue went two-for-two at bat during game one, marking her third multi-hit performance this year. Ava Moore collected hits in both contests and has now recorded hits in three of her last four starts. Skylar Brennan extended her reached-base streak to twelve games after going one-for-three and two-for-three across both matchups; her performance included her eighth multi-hit outing of the season.
