No. 11 Illinois extended its winning streak to eight matches with a 4-0 victory over Washington on Sunday at the Atkins Tennis Center in Urbana, Illinois.
The Illini have consistently secured the doubles point during this stretch, continuing that pattern against Washington by winning on Courts 2 and 3. William Mroz and Hayden Jones opened with a 6-2 win over Daniel Bien and Nikola Plavsic. Zach Viiala and Sasha Colleu followed with a 6-3 victory, giving Illinois an early lead.
In singles play, Illinois won all six first sets. Jeremy Zhang was the first to finish, defeating Daniel Bien 6-2, 6-3 on Court 6. Mroz then earned a straight-set win over Stephane Kamendje, 6-4, 6-4, on Court 2.
Colleu clinched the match for Illinois with a 7-5, 6-1 win over Rohan Belday on Court 3.
