The University of Illinois men’s golf team, ranked No. 9 nationally, will compete in the Pauma Valley Invitational from March 16-18 in Pauma Valley, California. The event will be held at the Pauma Valley Country Club and features a strong field with several of the nation’s top collegiate programs.
This tournament is significant as it brings together 17 teams, including six ranked in the top ten and nine in the top twenty of NCAA Division I rankings. The competition provides an opportunity for Illinois to test its skills against some of the best teams ahead of upcoming conference and national events.
The Illini lineup includes Trey Marrion, Dan Huddleston, Ryan Voois, Freddie Turnell, and Max Herendeen, with Ethan Wilson competing as an individual. Last year at this event, Illinois finished fourth with notable performances from Jackson Buchanan and Ryan Voois. This year marks the first appearance at Pauma Valley for newcomers Huddleston and Turnell.
The tournament will use a five-count-four format over three days, with tee times starting each morning. Live scoring will be available on Clippd Scoreboard, and daily recaps will be posted on FightingIllini.com.
