The University of Illinois track and field teams finished the Razorback Invitational at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas, on January 31. The No. 1 ranked women’s team and No. 9 men’s team saw several athletes achieve top-10 program marks.
Zavien Wolfe won the triple jump with a distance of 16.39 meters (53-9 1/4), which is the second-best mark in school history and currently ranks sixth in the NCAA this season. On the women’s side, Katharina Graman set a personal best in the triple jump with a mark of 13.40 meters (43-11 3/4), placing her fourth all-time for Illinois and eighth nationally this year.
In the 400-meter race, Jackson Gilbert recorded a time of 46.31 seconds, making it the fifth-fastest in school history. Grace Kombetto ran a time of 54.24 seconds, which is now ninth fastest for Illinois.
Other notable performances included Viktor Morozov finishing sixth in the triple jump at 15.99 meters (52-5 1/2) and Mercy Honesty placing tenth among women with a mark of 12.91 meters (42-4 1/4). In shot put events, Jacob Cookinham placed sixth with an effort of 18.06 meters (59-3), while Melissa Wullschleger finished seventeenth among women at 13.32 meters (43-8 1/2).
Distance runners Pol Molins and Trey Sato placed twenty-seventh and twenty-eighth respectively in the mile event, while Kennady Anderson was thirty-first among women.
The Illini track and field program is part of NCAA Division I competition within the Big Ten Conference and is based in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois according to its official website. The program participates in both indoor and outdoor events and supports student-athletes balancing academics with athletics.
The teams will not compete next week but will return to action February 13–14 at two separate meets: distance runners will attend the David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston, while other squad members will return to Fayetteville for the Tyson Invitational.
