The City of Champaign has introduced a new website, VisitDowntownChampaign.com, to provide information on entertainment programming at the Downtown Plaza stage. This platform will serve as a resource for details about events and activities taking place at this public venue throughout the summer.

As part of the city’s summer offerings, two weekly series have been launched:

Sound Bites is a lunchtime concert series occurring every Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., where visitors can enjoy live music while dining at downtown restaurants. Participating eateries will offer takeout specials.

Rhythm & Roots features live music every Tuesday from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. during the Champaign Farmers Market. The market has expanded its offerings for 2025, including The Kids Corner with games, puzzles, hair braiding, and other family-friendly activities.

Additionally, the Downtown Plaza is now designated as a Downtown Festival District during the Tuesday Farmer’s Market. Adults can purchase to-go alcoholic beverages from businesses near the Plaza and enjoy them while shopping or relaxing in one of the plaza’s bench swings.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to visit the new website to explore summer activities in Downtown Champaign.
