On August 8, 2025, City Manager Joan Walls and staff from several City of Champaign departments attended the Youth Employment Services (YES) end-of-year celebration at West Side Park. The event marked the conclusion of the City’s internship program for nine YES interns.

City staff from the City Manager’s Office, Equity and Engagement, Police, Neighborhood Services, and Human Resources Departments joined in recognizing the efforts of the interns. Activities at the event included food and games. The YES site coordinator for the City of Champaign was also present to acknowledge and celebrate the students’ contributions during their internships with the city.

The celebration highlighted the partnership between city departments and local youth through summer employment opportunities.
