Over the past week, members of the Equity and Engagement team participated in three community-led meetings aimed at addressing gun violence. Council Member Shauna Clayborn and Champaign Police Chief Timothy Tyler were among the attendees.

The first event, “Stand Together Against Injustice,” occurred on Wednesday afternoon at the Douglass Library. It featured dialogue and collaboration among community members and leaders.

The second event, “Stop the Violence: Part 2 of the Stand Together Against Injustice Series,” took place on Friday afternoon at the Champaign Public Library. This meeting continued the conversation by providing a platform for community members to share experiences, voice concerns, and explore solutions for a safer future.

The third event was held on Sunday afternoon at the Champaign Public Library. Residents shared experiences, expressed concerns, and discussed ways to build a safer community.

These conversations demonstrate a commitment to collective action and healing within the community.
