Firefighters from the Champaign Fire Department responded to a house fire in the 400 block of W. Eureka St. on August 10, 2025, at 3:54 a.m. The fire occurred in a single-family, single-story vacant home. According to officials, a neighbor reported the fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy smoke and flames coming from the structure. They used several hose lines to control and extinguish the blaze while working to prevent it from spreading to nearby homes. Fire crews began fighting the fire from outside before moving inside to fully put it out.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined as investigators are still examining the scene. No injuries among firefighters were reported.
