Firefighters from the Champaign Fire Department responded to a fire at a multi-family apartment building in the 3700 block of Colleen Dr. on Friday, August 1, 2025, at 8:58 p.m. According to officials, crews arrived after receiving a report from an occupant about the fire in the two-story building.
Upon arrival, firefighters observed smoke coming from a second-story apartment. They used a single hose line to put out the fire, which was controlled by the building’s sprinkler system.
“The cause of this fire has not been determined as fire investigators remain on scene conducting their investigation. There were no firefighter or occupant injuries reported. The occupants of two units will be displaced because of this fire,” according to the Champaign Fire Department.
The investigation into the cause is ongoing and no injuries have been reported among residents or firefighters. Two apartment units have been rendered uninhabitable due to the incident.
