Atwood FPD responds to 11 fires in 2017

Atwood Fire Protection District responded to 13 calls in 2017 - 40.9 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Atwood included 11 fires - four structure fires, two vehicle fires and five other fires.

In all, the department saw $10,000 in fire loss - or about $909 per fire.

The department also received two false calls.

The Atwood Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $119,094 in 2016.

The Atwood FPD Firefighters Pension Fund, which has active employee and one retired or inactive employee, was $13,906 in debt as of April 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $927 for every fire in 2016.
