Analysis: Champaign pays $5.22 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Champaign Police Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 83.9 percent of the $6,502,219 the Champaign Police Pension Fund brought in last year, or $5.22 for every $1 from pension members, according to a Chambana Sun analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Champaign contributed $5,455,503 to the fund, which saw a $751,089 increase in revenue over 2015. Members contributed $1,044,350, or 16.1 percent, in 2016. Another $2,366 came from other unspecified sources.
