Analysis: Champaign pays $4.52 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Champaign Firefighters Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 81.9 percent of the $4,108,589 the Champaign Firefighters Pension Fund brought in last year, or $4.52 for every $1 from pension members, according to a Chambana Sun analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Champaign contributed $3,364,504 to the fund, which saw a $50,529 increase in revenue over 2015. Members contributed $744,085, or 18.1 percent, in 2016.
