Here is the minutes provided by the Council:

The City Council of the City of Urbana, Illinois, met in Special Session on Monday, August 28, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at the Urbana City Building.

Elected Officials Physically Present:

Maryalice Wu, Alderwoman Ward 1

Eric Jakobsson, Alderman Ward 2

Aaron Ammons, Alderman Ward 3

Bill Brown, Alderman Ward 4

Dennis Roberts, Alderman Ward 5

Dean Hazen, Alderman Ward 6

Jared Miller, Alderman Ward 7 (arrived at 6:55pm)

Diane Wolfe Marlin, Mayor

Charles A. Smyth, City Clerk

Elected Officials Present Via Teleconference:

None

Elected Officials Absent:

None

Staff Present:

Elizabeth Hannan; Sylvia Morgan; Brian Nightlinger; James Simon; Todd Rent, Michelle Brooks

I. Call to Order and Roll Call

There being a quorum, Mayor Marlin called the meeting of the Urbana City Council to order at 5:30 p.m.

II. Public Input

There was no public input.

III. Closed Session to Discuss Collective Bargaining Issues pursuant to 5 ILCS 120/2(c)2.

Closed Session: A motion to go into closed session to discuss collective bargaining issues pursuant to 5 ILCS 120/2(c)2 was made by City Council Member Ammons and seconded by City Council Member Roberts.

Voting Aye: Ammons, Brown, Hazen, Jakobsson, Roberts, Wu, Marlin

Opposed: none

The City Council, Mayor, and selected staff moved to the 2nd floor executive conference room at 5:32 pm

The City Council and Mayor returned to council chambers at 7:08 pm

The body went back into open session via motion by Brown, second by Wu and passed by unanimous voice vote.

IV. Adjournment

There being no further business to come before the City Council, Mayor Marlin declared the special meeting adjourned at 7:10 p.m.
