The Urbana City Council will consider passing a protest resolution against new zoning rules for parking lots during a meeting tonight at the Urbana City Building.

If passed, the council would be objecting to a proposed ordinance amendment that would allow parking lots to qualify for special use permits in the county's conservation recreation zoning districts.

The council will also consider a number of zoning amendments for individual properties, and vote on the mayoral appointment of Stacie Burnett and Carol Bradford to terms on the Human Relations Commission extending through June 10.

The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. at 400 S. Vine St.
